Like a lot of people I know, I deal with stress and the feeling that there is always something else to do. I love playing with synthesizers and drawing in my free time. These activities pull me into the moment in a way almost nothing else does. I wanted to give that same feeling to anyone, regardless of skill, creativity and their skills in music.
Kaleido is inspired by the optical kaleidoscope. You draw freely, and your strokes are instantly mirrored into symmetrical patterns. As you draw, the app plays calming synthesizer sounds that respond to your touch.
The core idea is that creativity is a powerful way to be present. When you are drawing a pattern and listening to the sounds, there is no room left for stress. You forget time. You forget the things around you. The problem is not a productivity problem. It is the absence of a pressure-free creative space on your device. You cannot make a "bad" drawing in Kaleido. You just touch the screen, and something satisfying and beautiful emerges.
